About Meg

Hello! I am a composer, performer and music educator from West Chester, PA! I teach piano, voice, songwriting, composing, music production/recording & trombone! I bring my extensive knowledge of music theory and composition to each lesson, so that my students can take the elements they learn from our lessons and apply to any song or piece they choose to learn. I understand that each student is different, so I tailor each lesson to the individual's needs.

I received a BA in Music Composition and a minor in Music Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology from the University of the Arts. I have written dozens of pieces for various ensembles and I released an album on all streaming platforms in 2019. Since graduating I have continued to perform and compose mainly for musical theatre, as well as teach lessons to students ranging from 5 year old - 84 years old. My goal as an educator is to encourage my students to be lifelong musicians.

When did you start playing music, what brought you to it?

When I was 7, my parents bought an upright piano for my older sister who had just begun taking piano lessons. One day I started to mess around on it, and after a few hours I had taught myself how to play the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean. My parents knew immediately they had to get me piano lessons as well.

What are some musical goals you hope to achieve in the future?

I have written songs for short musicals, but I would love to complete a full length musical in the next few years.

What advice could you give to someone who has just begun learning music?

Learning how to read and play music is like learning 3 new languages so don't give up! The beginning is the hardest part!

What other instruments, aside from the ones you teach, have you played before?

I have played ukulele a little bit, but not well enough to perform for anyone!

What style(s) of music do you like to play the most? Why?

My family listened to mainly show tunes and classic rock songs growing up, and their love for these genres has definitely been instilled in me as well.
