Voice Lessons
Singing can be anything from a fun activity to a way to deal with stress to a professional career.
At Collingswood Sound, our voice lessons will be centered around not only learning to sing with proper technique, but also how to find "your voice." It is important to form a strong technical foundation so that your voice can be healthy, ensuring a long, happy singing career. But this does not mean you only have to sing classical music during lessons (although we can teach that!), this just means that our warmups are all about classical technique which is utilized in every style of singing. Our students can be found singing any genre such as musical theatre, pop, country, R&B, singer-songwriter, jazz, classical, etc. Within lessons, we can also focus on music theory and ear training. Understanding music theory not only makes a singer a better musician, but also helps when memorizing a song, and especially when working with other musicians in a band setting.
Whether you already know what style suits you or you want to try many different styles, whether you are just starting out or have been singing for many years, our voice teachers will be able to help you perfect your craft.

Here are a few examples of the many different styles singers can focus on at CSound!
What you need to start singing lessons:
Your voice is the most convenient instrument, all you need in order to practice is you. But that very same idea can actually make it very difficult to understand your voice and perfect your technique. Because the instrument is you (and more importantly, your diaphragm, lungs, larynx, throat, mouth, soft pallet, and nasal cavity) you aren’t able to physically see the parts of your instrument that effect your tone. So as singers, we need to rely very heavily on our sense of feeling. Of course listening and looking in a mirror will help, but the sense of touch is how we develop the muscle memory needed to sing effortlessly, with correct technique. So the most important thing you can bring to your voice lesson to help retain these ideas is a notebook and pencil. Writing down tips and tricks to remember will help your practice sessions go much smoother and ultimately speed up your growth process.
